Give GEM a question, not a checklist
A route strategy for a vast museum: build the timeline, choose one deep trail and leave enough attention for scale.

The building and collection are large enough to punish a completist plan. Decide what you want the museum to explain before you enter.
First build the chronological spine
Use the main galleries to locate early communities, state formation, royal power, daily life and changing religious practice. Once that framework is clear, a specialist object group has somewhere to belong.
Then choose one deep trail
Tutankhamun is one possible focus, but not the only one. Monumental sculpture, writing, technology, burial practice or kingship can each organize a strong visit. Display access can change, so treat any object list as provisional.
Keep Giza realistic
A same-day plateau visit may work when tickets, weather and group energy align. Adding a second major Cairo museum usually creates more transfer than understanding.
